CWTS

The Centre for Science and Technology Studies (Leiden University) is a leading centre in the quantitative study of science and technology and has played a crucial role in the development and application of citation based indicators for research evaluations and assessments at all levels of aggregation (international and national studies, university-wide evaluations, assessments of research groups, and bibliometrics at the individual level). A key asset of the centre is its high quality processing of the citation databases published by Thomson Reuters (ISI) and the data expertise in managing large citation databases of its staff. As a result, the citation analyses produced by CWTS are based on high quality corrected and verified data, different from the raw citation indexes available in the Web of Science.
